• Visual inspection: corrosion mapping, coating DFT measurement, section loss assessment.
• Non-destructive evaluation: magnetic particle (MT), ultrasonic (UT), dye penetrant (PT) for welds and cracks.
• Review structural drawings to assess section loss impact on load capacity; coordinate findings with EOR.

• Abrasive blast to SSPC-SP grade: SP-6 (commercial) for standard; SP-10 (near-white) for high-performance.
• Power tool clean (SSPC-SP 3) for spot repair; solvent clean (SSPC-SP 1) for degrease.
• Verify surface profile with Testex tape: 1.5–3.0 mil profile for most systems.

• Apply zinc-rich primer at 2–3 mil DFT: cathodic protection.
• Apply epoxy intermediate coat at 4–6 mil DFT after primer cure.
• Apply aliphatic urethane or epoxy finish coat at 3–4 mil DFT: UV and chemical resistance.
• Verify DFT per ASTM D7091 at minimum 5 readings per member per coat.

• Apply per UL-rated assembly; thickness per EOR fire rating requirement.
• Topcoat required for exterior or high-humidity locations.
• Minimum 5 DFT readings per structural member; document all thickness readings.

• Crack removal by air-arc gouging; crack-arrest holes at crack tips before welding.
• Weld repair per AWS D1.1; qualified procedure and welder; preheat per code.
• NDT inspection (UT or MT) after repair; document all weld repair locations and results.
